Have you ever gone to bed with someone you'd only just met? If so, you probably know that there's more to getting laid than just sex.

In this witty, and boldly original 13-minute short, we follow five pairs of gay men over a single night as they go through the urban rituals associated with the "hooking up" process: there's the idle biographical interview, the obligatory tour of the host's apartment, the occasional sips of the offered and accepted beer, the first physical contact and, of course, the exchange of... ... phone numbers!

Director Roland Tec's crosscutting among the various couples shows us just how much our experiences have in common. Hooking Up gives us a witty and keenly observant glimpse into the urban gay male ritual that exists somewhere between
"Can I buy you a drink?" and "I'd really like to see you again."
